Woooow, it's been a while since I put, er, fingers to keyboard! About six months it seems.
Any of you who follow me on Instagram will already be aware of this (probably to the point of saturation), but for those of you who don't, this is why...we made another dream came true! And she's called Demelza.
No no no not a baby; a rescued ex-racing greyhound. We've wanted to adopt a greyhound for about seven years, and finally we decided to take the plunge. We are truly, madly, deeply in love. On Valentine's day, we will have had her for exactly six months.
She's our first ever dog, for either of us. So it was a bit of a learning curve. The first two months were weird, busy and exhausting as we all got used to our new responsibilities. There are only so many hours in the day, and so quite a few tasks had to go on the back burner for a bit whilst we learned about this 40mph couch potato with a very sharp instinct to chase things.
Happily, now six months in, it's suddenly become easy; we all know what we're doing! Adjustments have been made. Personalities have come out of their shells. Commands have been taught and are listened to. Usually. Unless there's something exciting over there...like ducks. Demelza loves ducks.
At the risk of exposing myself as the dog-bore I have become and wittering on about how amazing/hilarious/fast/weird/gentle/loving/bizarre Demelza is, I'll just let some of my favourite photos from the last six months speak for themselves.
On With Speed! 🐾
And of course we still have our despicable white sasquatch, Echo! Eck hates winter and has spent most of it hibernating in her heated cat-bed on the windowsill upstairs. Echo is eight now so is starting to slow down naturally, and doesn't mind having her own penthouse (i.e. the whole of the upstairs) to herself!
